It was just pointed out to me that Mark’s CsvExport can indeed be configured the same way that ProfilerQuery can. I had missed that when I tested it. So the advantage with ProfilerQuery isn’t that big when it comes to just export to CSV.

That said, ProfilerQuery is so much more than just exporting to CSV. It’s a very advanced query tool that can also produce simple text-only reports. And it offers statistics and other useful functions. So if you have ProfilerQuery there is no need for a separate CSV export program.

And, for what it’s worth, Mark has stopped developing for DvdProfiler, but I’m still here supporting and improving my programs.

I just learned that ProfilerQuery crashed on start for one new user.
It works fine for me - a developer's dilemma. If anyone else has this problem, please let me know!

Now and then people ask if it is possible to export their collection to CSV format. Usually the answer refers to a plugin called CsvExport that Mark Harrison wrote a long time ago. It works, but it is a rather blunt tool.

You can also export to CSV using ProfilerQuery. This allows you to select which fields to export, and in which order.
- Export your collection to an XML file.
- Start ProfilerQuery and load your XML export.
- Leave Main Selection empty (but make sure "All of" is selected).
- Enter the desired fields in the Presentation tab and click RUN.
If the result looks like what you want to export, select File/Save result to file. Voila! CSV file created.

Thanks TraunStaa!

The same would be, of course, also invaluable for TmdbCheck

Just what did you have in mind? TmdbCheck already shows uncredited.

TmdbInfo 2.5.0

New in Settings: Allow uncredited cast.
There is also a new setting for the delay when you click the Letterboxd button. Read about it in the help file.

TmdbCheck, huh? I'll look at it. You're a hard man to please, TraunStaa!

TmdbInfo 2.4.0

I was wrong. Or if I were a politician, I would say "I overestimated the difficulty". No, wait, politicians rarely overestimate difficulties, they underestimate them. But I digress ...

Adding the info that TraunStaa asked for wasn't as slow as I thought. I forgot that when I  download the personal info, I don't actually download the portrait, just the URL for the portrait. So there wasn't nearly as much data as I thought. So now there is a new checkbox in Settings that says "Flag names that have portraits". If you check that, you will get a new column in cast and crew that says Pic if there is a portrait for that person in their Person window. This column will be updated in the background, so it will not slow down the time it takes to open a Movie / TV window.

While using TmdbInfo I have noticed that here are some jobs in Tmdb that didn't make it into the original Jobmap. If you install TmdbInfo for the first time, you'll get an updated job map. But if you have already used TmdbInfo, you have two options:

1) Go to %appdata%\Gunnar Syrén\TmdbInfo2 and delete TmdbMapping.json. The new default job map will be created there.

2) If you have already made changes to the job map, edit the job map manually (from the Options menu).
I have identified the following jobs that might be needed:
Art/Art Direction
Art/Production Design
Costume & Make-up/Costume Designer
Costume & Make-up/Wardrobe Designer
Costume & Make-up/Key Makeup Artist
Editing/Supervising Film Editor
Editing/Film Editor
Sound/Song
Sound/Sound Editor
Sound/Sound Mixer (= Production Sound Mixer ???)
Sound/Sound Supervisor
Writing/Book

I assume that you can figure out how these should be entered in DVD Profiler.
The problem with mapping jobs from Tmdb to DVD Profiler is that Tmdb doesn't standardize job titles. They seem to take whatever the job is called in the actual credits. So, you may well find more jobs that need to be added to the job map.

Is it possible to mark cast and crew with a small symbol in the 'movie cast and crew' window, when they feature a portrait in the Tmdb?

Technically it is possible, I guess, but i don't think that it would be very practical. It would entail downloading the personal info for each and every person in cast and crew in order to check if there is a photo. This could take quite a long time.

I'll keep it in mind, though, in case I can think of a practical solution that doesn't involve a total rewrite of the movie window.

You don't mention how you know that "they are in the DB", so I can only guess.

When an initial contribution is made, no other contributions will be accepted for the same title until the contribution has been released. And of course, it cannot be downloaded before being released.

Can that be the explanation for what you're seeing?

TmdbInfo 2.3.0

- In the Person window, you can now search for a title by pressing Ctrl-F.
- In the Person window, you can now sort by more than one column by selecting Custom sorting from the context menu.
- When the Movie or Television windows are opened from a Person window, the entry for that person is selected and highlighted in the cast and/or crew listing.
- In the Television window, the cast and crew listings have been merged to a common tab, the same as in the Movie window.

See the updated help file for further info.

For the cast, it's easy. The rules say that the end credits are leading. Although it's not in the rules, I always thought that if the crew was listed in both the opening and end credits, the ones in the opening credits were leading.

That makes sense to me.

I manually entered the UPC into the top box and pressed the enter key.

Ah! That was the key to finding the problem. I built the basic functions first and tested them. Then I added the advanced functions (list processing) and neglected to re-test everything again. What a rookie error for someone who's been programming for half a century!

Thanks for your patience, ObiKen! I hope I can remove my Dunce cap now.

What was the UPC for the contrib notes that you were looking at?

ContribLookupPlus 2.0

Here's another major update of a (perhaps) minor tool.

As with version 1, the object is to trace the "provenance" of cast/crew that has been copied from another profile. I have tried to make it easier to follow the contribution trail by identifying IDs mentioned in the contribution notes, and adding them as buttons that will open the referenced contribution notes in a new window.

If you have a list (a flag set) of IDs whose contribution notes you wish to check, you can load that list and go through it. For those who are really anal about the correctness of their profiles (and haven't actually checked every title themselves), there is even a bonus program that lets you find every profile in your collection where there is an ID mentioned in the contribution notes. It let's you save those to a list that you can then load into the main program.

Also, this version uses WebView2 as a browser, rather than CefSharp. This means a lot smaller footprint. Nowadays that's probably not very important to most people, but if you care, you can delete the old version before installing this new one.

Check the help file for more info.

There are 12 contributions up for voting for the child profiles of the Shawscope Volume One box set. They all use scans from the enclosed booklet rather than the scan of the actual box. I understand the reason that the contributor prefers these images. Just having the same boxset image for all 12 looks boring. I'm not sure it's a good thing, though. My reasons:

1) There is no mention in the rules that boxset child profiles can have scans from booklets.
2) It looks odd to have the front cover from the booklet and the back cover from the (oversized) box.

I was under the impression that the front and back scans should be the same size, but I see no mention of that in the rules.

It would have been great if we could have had Ken weigh in on this, but that's not going to happen. So I guess the ultimate ruling is down to the community and the screeners. So, what do you think? Acceptable or not?

Gunnar, it would be very handy and helpful if we could just have the ability to copy (right click with mouse button) the profile picture of actor/actress/crew and paste it into DVDP. Tricky?

Yeah, it would probably be tricky, but I will take a look at it.

It would also be handy to have TmdbInfo windows to permanently stay on top (by checkbox) and remember their size and window position.

On top can be done. Size/position for the main window, sure. For the individual child windows? Not sure how to do that as they are dynamically created and there can be any number of them. Anyway, their width is set to fit the content, so it would seem to be counterproductive to change that.

BirthYearView 1.1.0

I finally found a way to programmatically search in the WebView2 browser. So now the program automatically searches for the correct person in the IMDb listing:

I also added production year in the treeview listing. This makes it easier to differentiate between movies of the same name, and it also helps spotting unlikely differences between birth year and production year.

And as always, if you don't see the latest version in the download page - refresh your browser!

CapitalizationCheck is now supposed to capitalize every word that comes before and after a colon. If there are instances where it doesn’t, let me know. Actually, I don’t think it works if there is a blank before the colon. But there shouldn’t be.
