BirthYearView 1.0.0
Another birth year tool? Yep. On the surface it may look a bit like BirthYearFinder, but the purpose is quite different.

This one shows you the names of cast and crew that have more than one birth year, in your collection. This can help you determine if the different birth years are correct.
Why I created this? I found that a person in one of my profiles had a birth year entered, where in reality his birth year was unknown. So I added a new person with the same name, but without a birth year, and reassigned this person to the role. So far, so good.
But, as I already had several profiles that contained this name with birth years, I started to think that some of those might also be incorrect. And - lo and behold - one certainly was. This made me wonder if I had more instances of incorrect birth year like this. And that lead to the creation of this tool.
While testing it I realized how hard it can be to find credits in a TV show with lots of episodes. So I added an Episode check function.

This makes it a lot easier to find entries that need their birth years to be corrected. (I may contemplate adding this feature to some other tools.)

BirthYearFinder 2.0.0

In order to make information gathering easier, I have switched to using an internal web browser. That way I have much better control, and the information is easier accessible.
There is an IMDb tab that shows the IMDb search result page. You'll have to find the correct movie and click the link. When you do, you'll get automatically transferred to the Full Cast & Crew page. Use Ctrl-F for searching the page.
The next tab is the relevant forum post. The tab will show the Name and the birth year that is in your local profile. You may not even need to look at this tab. Having name and birthyear visible in that tab header while you browse the IMDb page will help reminding you of who you are looking for.
The properties of the result grid are now saved between sessions, so if you change the grouping or the order of the columns, this will be remembered the new time.
If you delete a row (or rows) by mistake, you can undo the deletion(s).
Please see the updated help file for more in-depth information. | Posted: Topic Replies: 12, Topic Views: 5702 |

Not sure what you mean. DVD Profiler doesn't really handle files, just profiles. But as you have used DVD Profiler for 12 years, I assume that you know how to add or delete profiles. So I guess you're referring to something else.
Can you elaborate, and preferably include a screenshot? | Posted: Topic Replies: 2, Topic Views: 1886 |

OverviewCheckPlus 1.2.3 Minor change: Under Load ID list from DVD Profiler there is now also collection "Flagged".
Reason for change: In some instances you can get an error from HTTPJolie that says "Unhandled Error Processing 'pidlist': Operation aborted". If that happens, instead of selecting "Owned" or "All" or whatever, just flag all the relevant profiles and select "Flagged" in OverviewCheckPlus.
PS You can actually get the same result in the previous version by flagging and saving the flags to a flag file, and then select Load ID list from flag file i OverviewCheckPlus. It's just one step less in 1.2.3.
PPS You can, of course, use this feature even if you don't get the error mentioned. | Posted: Topic Replies: 37, Topic Views: 29945 |

Just thought I'd mention this, since it may not be obvious:
In order for DvdpScheduler to control DVD Profiler, you must be logged in to Windows. There is no way to control DVD Profiler otherwise.
BUT it can run when Windows is locked (Win-L). So you can have it run when you're not at your PC (over night, for example) without having to leave it totally unguarded.
For example, this is my nightly run to keep everything updated.

BirthYearFinder 1.3.0
I had some free time during Xmas, so I added a few more features to BirhYearFinder. » Uncredited cast is marked with an asterisk. » Filtering for titles (Ctrl-F). » Optionally add columns Collection Number, Production Year and Media. See Settings.
A few minor bugs were also fixed.
Please note that the new columns can only be shown for results that were created with this version. If you load results that were saved in a previous version, these columns will not be available.
Here is a tip (that also works in 1.2):

Even though I have chosen to group the result by ID per default, you can actually group it by any column(s). Just drag the column header up to the grouping area. The example shows that I have triple dipped on 20 Million Miles to Earth, and their online profiles all need a birth year for Joan Taylor.
Feel free to experiment with different groupings to see if any of them work better for you than just grouping on ID.
As always, refresh your browser if you don't see the latest version in the download page. | Posted: Topic Replies: 12, Topic Views: 5702 |

I can't find where this is covered in the rules, and I have some concerns about some recent contributions that copies cast from other profiles.
First of all, the movies in question do not have any role names, and the copied cast has role names that almost certainly comes from IMDb.
Secondly, the copied cast includes uncredited cast, and is not even flagged as uncredited, and is undocumented in the original contribution notes.
So the question is - if copying from another profile is allowed, does that mean that anything that was once approved for that profile is now allowed into the receiving profile, even though it would not have been approved if it had been contributed by itself? | Posted: Topic Replies: 2, Topic Views: 1608 |

OK, I couldn't help myself ...

I really wanted to be able to group all entries from the same profile together. This makes it more convenient to see which names come from a certain profile, so you can fix them all and then contribute. This meant that I had to use a 3rd party datagrid. A bit more work to get everything to play the way I wanted, and a bit larger download. But I think it was worth it.
You can delete all items from a group by right clicking a row and selecting Delete entire group. I have also made some other minor changes. The help file has been upgraded to reflect this.

BirthYearFinder 1.1.0
Working with BirthYearFinder I realized that I wanted some more features. So here they are:
I found that saving the result to csv and loading it in a spreadsheet wasn't as useful as I had thought, so I added the possibility to save the result as a json file that could later be re-loaded into the program, thus still having the link to the forum post(s), and the possibility to double-click to select in Profiler.
I also added the possibility to search the title and person in IMDb from the context menu.
I now save the path where the xml was loaded from and where the result was saved, so you get the appropriate initial directory for loading and saving. No having to switch back and forth in the dialog.
And I fixed a problem with deleting rows in the result. And I made the icon look better. And I hope I won't have to release a new version again tomorrow. | Posted: Topic Replies: 12, Topic Views: 5702 |

Oops! Typical!
A late change in the program screwed up the double-click to select in Profiler. It's so frustrating when I think I have tested everything and then as soon as I have released the program, I find a bug. Oh, well, such is life.
Anyway, fixed in version 1.0.2
PS. If you have already visited the download page, don't forget to refresh your browser if the page doesn't say 1.0.2. | Posted: Topic Replies: 12, Topic Views: 5702 |

Another birth year tool? Really?
Yeah, and this one is a bit special.

When you add a birth year to a person in your local database, that birth year is applied to all your profiles that contain said person.
However, that doesn't update the same profiles in the online database. So, a lot of your profiles will be more correct than the corresponding online profiles. You may find some of them just by happenstance, but is there an easy way to find all? There is now!
This program goes through all your profiles from an XML export of your collection. For every profile it checks if there are names with birth years that matches the names in the List of accepted BYs. If there are, the corresponding online profiles are downloaded to check if the birth year is missing there. And if it is, it gets listed as you see in the above illustration.
Read all about the features in the Help file! Note that this program needs mediadogg's plugin HTTPJolie!
BirthYearFinder 1.0.1
By the way, the time of day when the run is estimated to be done (16:52:43) is in 24 hour format in the illustration. I haven't tested changing my system settings, but since this is from a standard Microsoft function, I assume that it will be shown in 12 hour format (like 4:52:43 PM) if that is your system setting. If not, get with it and learn 24 hour time! | Posted: Topic Replies: 12, Topic Views: 5702 |

DpOnlineBrowser 1.7
A few improvements: - "Search title on Amazon" added to the context menu. - 9 more Amazon sites added that can be searched by UPC/EAN or by title, based on the profile's locality. - Double clicking on the cover image opens it up in a separate window that can be resized. Size and position is remembered. - Help file updated.
Note that the new image window can only be resized by height. The width will be automatically adjusted to fit the image.
Also note that if you get a cookie prompt on Amazon, the search will not work. Just respond to that prompt and search again.
The added Amazon countries are Belgium, Brazil, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, South Africa and Turkey. Not sure how effective searching these sites is. I know that Amazon Sweden is not the best place to search for Swedish releases, and I have a feeling that the same may apply to some of these added Amazon sites. Searcher beware
PS. Remember that if you recently visited the download page, you may have to refresh your browser in order to see the updated download link. | Posted: Topic Replies: 20, Topic Views: 28521 |

CastCrewCheck 3.1.0

Yeah, it still looks the same, so this is just a reminder as to what it looks like.
However, there is one important change!
For integration with DJ Doena's CastCrewEdit, this program previously targeted the 32 bit version of CastCrewEdit. With the latest version of CastCrewEdit there is only a 64 bit version. So this program now targets the 64 bit CastCrewEdit only. | Posted: Topic Replies: 1, Topic Views: 1511 |

Quote: Yup i think this app is on its arse now. Completely unacceptable the lack of comms from the devs regarding this age-old ongoing issue. I have a different view of the situation.
"The devs" is actually one person, Ken Cole, and we haven't heard from him in over 7 years. My conclusion is that he is, for whatever reason, not available. So there is not likely to be any further development or fixes. What there is is what we have. The desktop program is a bit hobbled, but for the most part it is working. The site and the online database is still being supported by someone.
Are there shortcomings that you cannot accept, or can you live with what there is? Remember, staying with DVD Profiler as it is will cost you nothing more. As far as I know, you won't find anything of similar functionality that doesn't come with a subscription.
I chose not to focus on the negative. I am glad that I can still use DVD Profiler, such as it is. I try to support its users with my freeware tools. Other users do their bit with contributions, researching birth years and common names. So let's not make things worse by sowing discontent. | Posted: Topic Replies: 87, Topic Views: 24064 |

Not sure what you mean by "the list overview". Do you mean "All"? If so there could be a profile in a collection other than "Owned", for example "Wish list".
There could even be a profile that's not in any collection other than "All". Technically, that shouldn't be possible, but I have actually seen it happen. Not sure how that happens.
Edit: On reflection I think I was misremembering. It was a long time ago, but what I think happened was that I found a profile in "All" that wasn't visible in any other collection. But, I had hidden one of the standard collections that I wasn't using. It was supposed to be empty, but somehow a profile had snuck in there. That's why I couldn't see it. So, if you don't have any hidden collections, that's probably not what you're looking for. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 2584 |
